The Spring 2011 season of The Bangkok Pool League ended this past Saturday (July 23rd) with the Season-ending 8-Ball Singles Tournament. 150 people showed up, well below the record of 224 set a few seasons back. They were a spirited group, though, and most stayed for most of the day. The trophies for the season were handed out to the Winners and runners-up for all 10 divisions (8-Ball and 9-Ball). The event went well, and was a fitting end to the season.
O Rayong (Players) won first place, his 2nd time in 8-Ball. Dong (Paradise A) came in 2nd, Les (Sportsman A) came in 3rd, and Tor (Paradise A) came in 4th. 107 door prizes were awarded (7 donated by Sportsman), and 119 people participated in the draw.
For those that missed it, the pictures have already been uploaded on to the gallery. Thanks go to Al for donating his time as the event photographer.
Many thanks to those that attended, as well as Neil, Peder, Al, Steven, Michael, Yut, The draw crew, the Ball In Hand staff, and all the others that have assisted me in both the staging of the event and making the league function.
The next season of the Bangkok Pool League is expected to begin in early September. No date has been set yet, so please keep checking here.
I have had a number of requests to make the statistics from previous seasons accessable on the site. Just under the "Current Standings" is a new header entitled "Previous Seasons." We have made a number of format changes over the years, but most of the information from the past should be there for anyone interested in viewing it.
JAKARTA: The next major event involves The Bangkok Pool League traveling to Jakarta, Indonesia, to take them on in an Expat challenge match. There will be a meeting held this Sunday (July 31st) to discuss the details. The venue will be The Sportsman in Washington Square, and the time is 4:00 PM. Anyone interested in hearing about it is invited to attend.
