The Spring Season of the Bangkok Pool League came to its conclusion this week.  It was only fitting that a bizarre season should end with some bizarre Week 14 results.  For those new to the league and those that forget the plot every season, the only factor used in the event of a tie at the end of a season is the head-to-head results between the teams involved.  In 8-Ball, games count.  In both 8-Ball and 9-Ball, legs do not count.  If the head-to-head does not decide it, a playoff is held at a neutral venue. The final figures have been loaded on to the site.  Here is a re-cap of how things worked out:

8-BALL

Red Division:   Players A went into week 14 with a commanding lead at 21 points.  They won to end the season anyway, and will get First Place.  Big Mango and Sportsman A went into the final week tied at 16 points.  Both teams ended the season with draws.  Big Mango (17 points) gets the nod for 2nd place because of the head-to-head in games.

Orange Division:  Hustlers went into week 14 with 16 points.  They won, ending the season with 18 points, and will get first place.  Cho Cho Bar went into week 14 with 16 points, but had to play against Hillary Bar (14 Points).  Hillary Bar won, forcing the draw.  Hillary Bar (16 points) gets the nod for 2nd place by virtue of the head-to-head.

Yellow Division:    Sports Academy (20 points) and Bush Gardens (19 points) both entered week 14 needing to win.  Both took care of business.  Sports Academy (22 points) will get first place and Bush Gardens (21 points) will get 2nd place.

Green Division:  Jersey Pub (22 points) went into week 14 with first place already in hand.  Ball In Hand and Moonshine entered the week tied at 17 points.  Ball In Hand needed to beat Jersey Pub at home to stay in 2nd place, and pulled off the win.  Moonshine also won its last match, but Ball In Hand (19 points) will get 2nd place becauseof their head-to-head against Moonshine.

Blue Division: Butterfly Bar (21 points) and Dali (20 points)both entered week 14 needing to win to stay where they were.  Both ended their season with wins.  Butterfly Bar (23 points)  will get first place, and Dali (22 points)will get 2nd place.

523 people have played 8-Ball this season.  169 have played 10 or more times, and 119 have played at least once on 10 or more occasions.

9-BALL

Red Division:  Hustlers A went into week 14 at 10-1, but needed a win to avoid a playoff against Players A, who were at 10-2 and unable to gain ground in a friendly.  Hustlers did what they needed to.  Hustlers A (11-1)  will get first place, and Players A will get 2nd place.

Orange Division:  Sportsman A went into week 14 at 9-2, but needed to win to stay ahead of Cho Cho Bar and Players B, both at 8-3.  Sportsman A (10-2) won, and will get first place.  Players B and Cho Cho Bar each lost, however.  Cho Cho Bar's loss was to Hustlers B, which put all 3 teams even at at 8-4.  Cho Cho Bar is eliminated by virtue of their head-to-head against both Players B and Hustlers B.  Players B beat Hustlers B in a playoff match at Sportsman and will get the 2nd place trophy.

Yellow Division: Bush Gardens and Opium's Den entered week 14 tied at 10-3.  Bush Gardens won its match, but Opium Den was upset by Silver Dollar.  Bush Gardens (9-3) will ger first place and Opium's Den will get 2nd place.

Green Division:  Oasis B and Sportsman B went into the week tied at 8-3, but were scheduled to play against each other.  Sportsman B (9-3) won it and will get first place.  Oasis B (8-4) will get 2nd place.

Blue Division:  Mash entered the week at 8-3, with Butterfly Bar sitting at 7-4 and Country Road 5/7 at 6-4 with a make-up game left to play against Sport 20-2 Ladies.  Mash losty its last match, finishing at 8-4.  Butterfly lost its last match to Sport 20-2 Ladies.  Country Road 5/7 beat Sport 20-2 Ladies the next day to oust Butterfly from Trophy consideration and tie Mash at 8-4.  Mash (8-4) will get first place by way of the head-to-head against Country Road 5/7.  Country Road 5/7 (8-4) will get 2nd place.

9-Ball was a problem all season due to the early drop-out of 2 teams.  It ended well, though, with virtually all divisions being decided in week 14.

SINGLES TOURNAMENT

I will post more on this next week, but the date for the 8-Ball Singles Tournament to end the season is scheduled for July 23rd.  All of the trophies for both 8-Ball and 9-Ball will be given out at this event, and it will signify an official end to the season. All are invited.
