Round 1 of the 8-Ball playoffs was a great example of what the pool league is about.  The competition was great, and the sportsmanship just as great.  Hats off to all who played.  My team's match with Rack Em Up was a great night out, and there seemed to be a lot of other people having a great night as I was able to catch some of the other matches. 

The 3 divisional winners in the Plate playoffs will meet next Saturday, November 24th, in a round robin tournament to determine the winner for the plate.  The venue will be FLAMING MOE'S in Queens Park Plaza, Sukhumvit Soi 22.  The 3 divisional winners in the Championship playoffs will meet next Sunday, November 25th, in a round robin tournament to determine the Bangkok Pool League Champion for fall 2007.  The venue will be LARRY'S DIVE on Sukhumvit Soi 22.

YELLOW DIVISION

CHAMPIONSHIP playoff:  The Corner Bar was taken all the way by late surging Powelly's, and had to wait until the 8th game to determine a winner.  John came through with the pressure on to get the win for Corner Bar, 5-3. Det 5A, with Darrel, their top player, sidelined by stomach problems, succumbed to Roadhouse, 5-3.  CORNER BAR will be home next week against ROADHOUSE to determine a winner.

PLATE playoff:  Happiness and Crazy hot played to a 4-4 draw.  Kudos to John and Neil who came up with a novel approach to the decider.  Both teams played a game of killer to decide the winner.  Happiness won.  Salute Spots and Down Under also wound up at 4-4 at the game's end.  5 players from each team each played a leg in a race to 3.  Salute Spots won.  HAPPINESS will be at home next week against SALUTE SPOTS to determine a winner.

GREEN DIVISION

CHAMPIONSHIP playoffs:  A depleted Det 5B team went to Hillary Bar, and lost 5-3 in a match that was not decided until the 8th game.  Moonshine brought it's equally decimated team to Rack Em Up, where the same thing happened.  Both losing teams put up good fights, and a good night was had by all.  HILLARY BAR will be at home next week against RACK EM UP to determine a winner.

PLATE playoff:  The match between Flaming Moe's and Fun House proved to be a great one.  It ended in a 4-4 draw.  David and Daz squared off in a race to 3 tiebreaker.  David came out on top in a decider that was well played by both.  Both players hugged, and the bell was rung.  In the other match, newcomer Sports Corner beat a depleted Actual Office A.  SPORTS CORNER will play at home next week against FUN HOUSE to determine the winner. 

PURPLE DIVISION 

CHAMPIONSHIP playoff:  The Players continued their winning run with a convincing win over Salute spots.  Hideaway beat Country Road Cowboy in the other match.  THE PLAYERS will be home next week against HIDEAWAY to determine a winner. 

PLATE playoff:  Butterfly came out with a convincing win over Pickles.  The match between Cho Cho Bar and Actual office B ended in a 4-4 draw.  The two team Captains, James and Steven, squared off to settle it in a race to 3.  James came out on top.  BUTTERFLY BAR will play at home next week against ACTUAL OFFICE B to determine a winner.
