The Singles Tournament and Captain's meetings are now history, and the Fall 2010 season of the Bangkok Pool League gets underway tonight. The Fall line-up has been loaded on to the site, as well as the schedules for 8-Ball and 9-Ball. The Current Standings will reflect the final results for the Spring until after the Week 1 update. Good luck to all.

SINGLES TOURNAMENT
As in the past, the fall season of the Bangkok Pool League will begin with a 9-Ball Singles Tournament designed to kick the season off on a high note. All who have played last season in either 8-Ball or 9-Ball are invited to attend, as well as those expecting to play this season for the first time.
The venue will be The Ball In Hand on Sukhumvit, Soi 4. The doors will open for free play at 11:00 AM. The draw is expected to get under way as close to 2:00 as possible, but late-comers will be accommodated so long as there are still slots open in the first round.
The league has spent the balance of the spring revenue on door prizes, and will donate 75 bottles of various wine and spirits.. The venues are expected to bring the total up well past 100. There will be a free food buffet for those that attend.
CAPTAINS MEETINGS
Prior to the start of play this season, all participating venues are required to have their team Captain or other team delegate attend one of the 3 Captains Meetings. The purpose is to make sure everyone is well aware of the league rules and procedures. Copies of the schedules for both 8-Ball and 9-Ball, a League contact list, playing rules and score sheets will be handed out at these meetings.
OASIS Monday, Aug 23rd at 7:00 PM. Sukhumvit, Soi 13, about 75 meters on the right side.
DALI COYOTE Wednesday, Aug 25th at 7:00 PM. Sukhumvit, Soi 33. About 50 meters on the left side. Upstairs, above Dali Bar.
BALL IN HAND Saturday, Aug 28th at 4:00 PM. Same location as Singles Tournament.

I am currently in the process of putting together the roster for the Fall 2010 Season of the Bangkok Pool League. Step 1 will be to contact all of the venues that fielded teams in the Spring Season. Step 2 will be to speak to those new venues that have shown interest in joining the league for the 1st time. If anyone knows of a venue that might be interested in fielding a team, please let me know as soon as possible. I expect the league to be roughly the same size as last season...82 teams. The number of divisions will be predicated on the exact number of teams.
The Fall 2010 season will once again kick off with a Season-Opening 9-Ball Singles Tournament on August 21st at The Ball In Hand. Everyone who played in either 8-Ball or 9-Ball last season is invited, as well as those that will be playing this season for the 1st time. Further details will follow shortly.
The Captains meeting(s) will be held between August 23rd and August 27th.
The Season will start on Monday, August 30th (8-Ball) and Sept 1st (9-Ball). It will run for 14 weeks, ending on December 1st. The Season-Ending 8-Ball Tournament will be on December 11th.

The Spring 2010 Season of the Bangkok Pool League ended in grand style on June 19th at the 8-Ball Tournament. I think its a great tribute to those people who live and play here that the events experienced in and around the city during the back half of the season were nowhere in evidence. Everyone seemed to be really enjoying themselves. Whatever passes for normal in Bangkok seems to be back.
The final standings have now been adjusted to reflect those make-up games that I have in so far. I still expect some or most to eventually be made up, but none will affect 1st or 2nd place.
As always, we got underway a bit late. We still managed to fill the 128 person draw rather easily. In total, there were 192 registered attendees. We stopped registering people around 6:00, and quite a few more showed up to put the attendance somewhere into record territory. Not all of the 600+ who played during the season were able to make it, but enough did to make it a great event.
The league donated 82 door prizes, and the participating bars added another 44, bringing the total to 126. Meaw (Hillary Bar) donated 3 pool cues, and Michael Wong added some interesting artwork. As always, door prizes are only given to those that are actually there when their name is called. The last prize, a bottle of J W Black, went to the only person left in the room who had not as yet won one.
In the 6 years that I have been running the league, noone has ever repeated as Champion at any of the 8-Ball or 9-Ball tournaments. That record remains intact. This years 8-Ball Singles Tournament Champion was Joe (Hustlers). He played well and was able to dispatch Ti (Bush Garden) in the final. In the consolation game, O Rayong (Players) was able to beat Kitty (Moonshine) for 3rd place. My congratulations to all four.
Mac (Country Road) did a great job with the pictures, and they have already been loaded on to the gallery. Have a look. I expect more to follow.
The 9-Ball Singles Tournament is tentatively scheduled for August 28th, when we all get to do this again. The fall season is expected to get underway on August 30th(8-Ball) and Sept 1(9-Ball). I will contact all existing teams and venues in August in regard to the fall season. If any other venue is interested in fielding a team, or if anyone is interested in finding a team, please contact me via this website.
