This fixture on Monday 20 April in the Bangkok Pool League’s red division would not ordinarily create much attention, with the Players Bar being clear favorites to win. However, Cho Cho Bar, with a tactical move in mind arrived at Players with an unexpected team that included 4 Bar-fined Katoeys from the Nana area.
This unusual ploy of voluptuousness and mystique clearly succeeded in unsettling the normally dominant Players team, albeit somewhat depleted for this match. Following some preliminary preamble and obvious concern from the Players side, it was eventually accepted that the new look Cho Cho Bar team was not going to present any kind of insurmountable hurdle for the Players Bar.
The match started with Players fielding probably their strongest player, Coach Alan Bell against the first of Cho Cho Bar’s Katoeys. Alan clearly found focusing and concentration somewhat uneasy as the Katoey dazzled his big breasts and whatnot around the pool table. Fortunately for Alan the Katoey followed the eight ball into the pocket with the Q – ball and Alan breathed a sigh of relief for the overall win.
At half time, the Players Bar side were holding their nerve, amongst other things and the score was 3 – 1 to Players. The two team’s captains, Rob and Steven huddled in separate corners of the bar to contemplate and ponder their final four selected players. Meanwhile, the Katoeys were strutting their stuff trying to cause as much confusion as possible.
The match re-started, and it soon became clear that Cho Cho Bar’s ploy was beginning to succeed. The Players Bar second half team selection was at best bewildering, but Coach Alan Bell was called upon a second time to hopefully clean up any mess as the final number eight player. A mess it certainly was from Players Bar point of view as Cho Cho’s team leveled at 3 – 3 and then went ahead 4 -3.
The final game between Cho Cho Bar’s team captain Steven and Coach Alan Bell definitely held some pressure, so much so, that Alan ran out the winner and ultimately saved Players Bar any blushes. The final score being 4 – 4 on what was and unusual and highly entertaining evening.

Week 8 of the pool league season got underway with a flourish, and the back half should prove quite interesting. There were some great matches, and some really unusual matches.
Sport 22 brought their side to Oasis 2 to avenge their 21-20 loss in week 1 of 9-Ball. The first person to report the score to me said it ended up as a 19-19 draw, as there were no players left on either side that were sober enough to still see the table. The 2nd person I spoke to said it ended up 18-16, but he was not sure who was ahead as he was too drunk. The next 2 people I spoke to could not remember anything on the night other than waking up on Thursday morning with a massive headache. I have decided to award 1 point each to Heineken and Jaegermeister, and give losses to both sides.
There was a great deal of chest-thumping between Rob (Players) and Steve (Cho Cho Bar) prior to Steve's bringing his team into The Players. Steve thought he may have overdone it, and expected his side to be up against a team he could not beat. He figured that if he were going to lose, he might as well do it with as little dignity as possible. He barfined 4 katoeys, and sent them in to The Players to take the steam out of their better players. It proved to be a very successful tactic.

My efforts in collecting scoresheets keep getting me drunk. I went out last night with the intention of hitting 6 bars. I made the mistake of starting with Sports Bar and Oasis 2, and I dont think I ever left Soi 13.. I don't remember too much, but did wake up this morning with 3 of the missing 8-Ball scoresheets.
Standings have been updated up to week 8, check them here
The Songkran break is now over, and we can begin the 2nd half of the Spring 2009 season. The stats through the first 7 weeks have been updated. I deliberately held off, as there are still 3 outstanding matches in both 8-Ball and 9-Ball. To the teams involved, please arrange to have these matches played ASAP, let me know once they have been played, and please get 8-Ball scoresheets in to me.
Happiness Bar is being re-modeled, and there is a 7-Foot, coin-operated, Sovereign pool table there that is looking for a new home. If anyone is interested in purchasing it, or knows of someone who might be, call Neil at 087-820-9934.
The mid-season team tournament was not well attended, but those who did come enjoyed the day. Play lasted 6 hours, and I think a good time was had by all.
A date for the Season-ending Singles tournament has not been decided as yet, but it will definitely be in mid June. I am waiting for our sponsors to return from their important business meetings on some golf course in Hawaii to arrive at a firm date. I will let everyone know once a date is selected.
