The league governing committee met yesterday, ironed out some wrinkles, and agreed that the time was right to start up the Fall season. I will be contacting all of the participants from last season to see how many teams they will be fielding in both 8-Ball and 9-Ball over the next 2 weeks. I will also be meeting with the prospective new participants. The TENTATIVE start up date for the beginning of the season is August 11th (8-Ball) and August 13th (9-Ball). The goal is to have 32 teams in 4 divisions for both, though we may have to go to 5 divisions if we have closer to 40 teams. That would mean a 14 week regular season ending on November 10th and 12th. If all goes as planned, the Captain's meetings will be the week of August 4th. The year-ending Singles Tournaments would be the first 2 weeks in December, early enough to be a good kick-off for the holidays.

The governing committee will be meeting this Sunday, July 13th, to discuss and establish the parameters of the next season of the Bangkok Pool League. We will be meeting at Larry's Dive (in deference to 1-legged jack) at 6:00 PM. Anyone with an issue that they would like to raise and discuss is invited to attend.
Once this meeting is finished, I will begin calling and/or visiting all of the current participants to see how many teams they will want to field. There are 12 new bars that have shown an interest in playing next season, and I will contact them to make sure they are aware of the rules, and understand what the league is all about. The most important criteria is that they have enough players to be able to be at adequate strength for an entire season. The next season will end in mid December, to allow people a respite for the Holidays.
The number of divisions, number of teams per division, and the length of the season will be determined by the number of teams that will be playing.
