The schedule for the first week of the playoffs in 9-Ball, Wednesday April 30th, are done. Please click on "Read More" below. Please alse read what has already been written in the 8-BALL PLAYOFFS and FINAL STANDINGS posts, as the same rules apply. In 9-Ball, however, there will be no competition beyond the divisional Champions and there will be no League Champion.
As with the 8-Ball last night, The winners of the first week's matches will enter a round-robin to determine the division Champion, and the losers will play in a round-robin to determine who wins the Plate.
I want to repeat one more time that I will be out of the country, and Peder will be filling in for me while I am gone. I can still be reached via E-mail through this site.
Last night's 8-Ball went off well, and the round-robin playoff schedules for the next 3 weeks are in the process of being done. Both 8-Ball and 9-Ball will be posted here as soon as they are finished.
UPDATE!
The FINAL STANDINGS have now been updated, check them here.
The 8-Ball is complete. We are still missing 2 scoresheets from the final week of 9-Ball, but they do not affect the final standings and I am tired of trying to track them down or wait for them to appear.
PLAYOFF SCORESHEETS: Please note that I do NOT need the scoresheet for the playoff matches. The individual stats will not be recorded. The only thing I need to know is who won the match. I need this information as soon as possible so I can work out the playoff schedule for the remaining 3 weeks. Please simply call or SMS the result to Peder at 083-881-1422 and keep it as simple as possible. Bar X-5, Bar Y 3 will do.
TIEBREAKERS: During the first week of the playoffs, there can be no draws. A winner must be determined so that teams can go into either the Championship round-robin or the Plate round-robin. The Tiebreaker format is as follows: Each team will select 4 or more players, with each player playing 1 leg in a race to 3. A player cannot play twice until everyone has played at least once. During the Round-Robin, 4-4 draws are okay, but I am asking everyone to play a tiebreaker anyway, regardless of the score. The Tiebreaker will only count in the event of a tie. The winner of the Round-robin will be the team that has won the most cumulative games. If 2 teams should wind up in a tie, the tiebreaker played between the 2 of them will determine the winner.
I am still waiting for a few outstanding score sheets, and will post the final standings as soon as I get them and have them recorded. I do, however, have enough information to post the playoff schedule for Monday, April 28th. Please read more below.
PLAYOFFS: The results of this first week of the playoffs will determine the following 3 playoff weeks. The 3 winners will go into a round-robin tournament to determine the divisional champions. The 3 losers will go into a round-robin to compete for the Plate. As there are only 5 teams in the Gold and Silver divisions, the 2 losing teams will go head-to-head for the plate. The #1 and #2 teams in these divisions will play a "decider" prior to the playoffs with the winner receiving a bye. Once we have 6 divisional Champions, they will compete in a tournament to determine the League Champion.
TROPHIES: Those teams that have won their divisions during the regular season have already earned trophies. Those teams that win the playoffs in their divisions will also receive trophies. Teams that win both will be given a larger trophy to reflect the greater accomplishment. Trophies will also be awarded for the Plate.
QUALIFIED PLAYERS: The only people eligible for playoff games are those that have either played 7 times or on 5 seperate occasions. They are highlighted in the player stats. All team Captains are automatically qualified. If there is any question regarding a players eligibility, please bring it to our attention. Allowances can be made for extenuating circumstances, but please clear it first.
PLEASE NOTE: I will be out of the country for much of the playoffs. I am putting the running of the league in the capable hands of Peder, who was envolved with this league before I was. I can be reached via E-mail through this site, and Peder can be reached at 083-881-1422. Any committee member can also help with any questions or problems that might arise.
Most of the scoresheets made it in, and the standiings to date have been uploaded. There are still a few postponed matches that hopefully will be played prior to the final week of regular season play. Please be reminded once again that there are no games this week.
8-BALL: 5 of the 6 divisional winners have been decided, but the playoff picture will not be clear until the end of the season. In the Gold division, 2nd place Salute Stripes will be playing at 1st place Sports Academy, and a strong showing by Salute Stripes could reverse those standings.
9-BALL: 2 of the Divisional winners are still uncertain, and the playoff picture is still blurry in most of the other divisions. In the Blue Division, Moonshine, Flaming Moe's, and Hideaway Black are all still contending for the title in a divisional race that could possibly end in a 3-way tie. The same is also true in the Green Division, with Popeye's, Sports Corner, and Metro Bar still in the hunt for the regular season title.
Some Interesting Stats: 841 people have played in the season to date; 432 in 8-Ball, and 409 in 9-Ball. 57 people have played in at least 1 game every week, and 236 have played in 6 or more of the 9 weeks played. Going in to the last week of the regular season, 340 people have qualified for the playoffs.
Hi all!
Standings have been updated for week 9
